The Mexican Navy reports that, through the National Port System Administration Manzanillo (ASIPONA Manzanillo), it has contributed to the recovery of spaces for education and culture, as well as the improvement of roads and the development of recreational infrastructure, so that the benefits of port activity are reflected in the daily lives of families in Manzanillo and the region.
Among these contributions, the first phase of rehabilitation of the University of Colima Campus Manzanillo stands out, which has already been inaugurated. The works allowed for the improvement of the infrastructure of this campus for the benefit of students, teachers, and staff who carry out their activities in these facilities.
Likewise, the remodeling and restoration of the "Profra. Julia Piza" Cultural Center and Library was carried out, located in the old railway station. These works contribute to preserving a space linked to the history of Manzanillo and strengthening its use for reading and cultural activities of the community.
In addition to these actions, the construction of the Miramar Boardwalk was completed by ASIPONA Manzanillo. These advances are complemented by the actions of the State Government to continue the project, with the purpose of offering better conditions to walk and enjoy this coastal space.
To facilitate the movement of the population, the Armería–El Paraíso–Cuyutlán state highway was also rehabilitated in a first phase, in compliance with the collaboration agreement between the State Government and ASIPONA Manzanillo. Similarly, in the city of Colima, resources were allocated to the rehabilitation and conservation of the Libramiento Ejército Mexicano.
Currently, the Armería Wastewater Treatment Plant is being rehabilitated, which seeks to contribute to improving the quality of life of the residents of Armería, thus continuing with the collaboration plan that ASIPONA has outlined for the benefit of the State.
These contributions are part of a port-city relationship that recognizes the importance of accompanying port development with works of utility for the community.
With these actions, the Mexican Navy, through ASIPONA Manzanillo, contributes to the well-being of the population through the recovery of spaces for learning, coexistence, and enjoyment of the environment, as well as the improvement of the roads that connect the localities of the region.
Maritime and port development for a sustainable future with a social sense for the well-being of the people of Manzanillo.
