The latest flagship of MSC Cruises, MSC World Asia, successfully completed its final sea trials as part of preparations for its delivery on November 25, 2026. The final trials took place in the Atlantic Ocean, off the western coast of France, conducted by Chantiers de l'Atlantique, to test the ship's engines, maneuverability, energy efficiency, safety systems, speed, and braking distances, confirming its readiness as it progresses towards completion. The first sea trials were completed in July.
This new ship will join the fleet as MSC Cruises' twenty-fourth vessel and the third LNG-powered World Class ship. MSC World Asia builds on the success of the World Class platform. Each ship in the series is designed to be a destination in itself, where innovation meets elegance, and every detail is considered to enhance every moment on board.
MSC World Asia will offer passengers the ultimate cruise experience with over 40 bars, lounges, and restaurants, international entertainment options, a wide range of family facilities, and much more.
The vessel will undertake seven-night itineraries from Barcelona with calls at some of the most popular Mediterranean destinations, including Marseille, Genoa, and Civitavecchia (for visiting Rome), Messina, and Valletta, with accessible embarkation available at all ports.
The ship will now receive its final touches at the Chantiers de l'Atlantique shipyards in Saint-Nazaire, France, before being officially delivered to MSC Cruises on November 25. MSC World Asia will be officially inaugurated on November 28 in Le Havre, France, in a ceremony bringing together key figures from the global tourism industry, international media, partners, and guests, in an evening that will combine maritime tradition with contemporary celebration.
Passengers will embark on their first voyage on December 4, when the ship sails from Barcelona on its inaugural seven-night journey.
With a length of 333.3 meters and a beam of 47 meters, this 22-deck vessel has a gross tonnage of 216,638 and can accommodate up to 6,764 passengers, served by more than 2,000 crew members. It features 2,614 cabins and over 38,400 square meters of public spaces.
