The Panamanian-flagged bulk carrier Frist Margaux collided with a Chinese fishing vessel off the coast of Singapore.
According to The Maritime Executive, the incident occurred on Thursday, September 17, when both vessels were heading towards the Strait of Malacca, near the Sentosa area. During this transit, the Frist Margaux overtook the fishing vessel Luqing Yuanyu, colliding with its bow and causing significant flooding in part of the Chinese vessel.
The situation was widely reported on social media, where videos show the complex maneuver the crew of the Luqing Yuanyu had to perform to avoid a more serious accident. Local media reported that no serious injuries were recorded and that the vessel received appropriate assistance.
The Frist Margaux is a bulk carrier with a length overall of 229 meters and a beam of 32.3 meters, with a capacity of 80,000 DWT, and is owned by a Japanese company.
According to maritime tracking websites, the bulk carrier is currently still sailing in the waters of Southeast Asia.
