Port of Mocha Suspends Operations After Houthi Missile Attacks in Yemen

The Port of Mocha (Yemen) has announced the suspension of its operations following a series of ballistic missile attacks on its infrastructure in recent days. The most recent offensive resulted in the deaths of four civilians and, according to Yemeni authorities, was perpetrated by Houthi rebels.

Based on official sources, the maritime station located in the Red Sea near the Bab el-Mandab strait "has suspended its commercial and maritime operations after being hit by more than 25 missiles in Houthi attacks in recent days."

"The attacks caused the deaths of seven people and estimated losses of 16 million dollars," the director stated at a press conference.

Furthermore, it was indicated that "the Houthis claimed their objective was an increase in the number of weapons and warships belonging to Saudi-backed forces in Mocha."

"This escalation comes amid growing regional tensions stemming from the US war against Iran and has raised concerns about a possible return to a large-scale conflict in Yemen," it was added.
