The fifteenth edition of the TPS Valparaíso Half Marathon began its countdown today with the opening of registrations and the presentation of the official competition shirt, in an activity held inside Terminal 1 of the Port of Valparaíso that brought together authorities, sponsors, and local organizations.
Terminal Pacífico Sur Valparaíso, organizer of this event that gathers more than 4,000 people in each of its editions, today launched the TPS Half Marathon, inviting families and runners to participate in a race that runs through the port facilities and some of the most emblematic areas of the heritage city. The event is held collaboratively with the Ministry of Sports, through the Sports Law, in addition to a dozen local institutions.
Cristian Rodríguez, general manager of TPS, stated that "the TPS Valparaíso Half Marathon is a unique opportunity for people to run along our pier, next to the sea, under the cranes and among the containers that are our daily workspace, from where we move Chilean foreign trade; but it is also an occasion to explore Valparaíso from a different perspective, through sport, with the family. We are very excited to hold this beloved event again, which is characterized by an atmosphere of healthy living and great joy."
The Mayor of Valparaíso, Camila Nieto, commented that "for us, this Half Marathon organized by TPS, in which the Municipality of Valparaíso is a part, is very important because it allows us to promote the city in terms of sports, in port development so that people can learn what is done in the port area, and of course, this also generates a great tourist attraction and boosts economic development in the city of Valparaíso. The invitation is for you to register and come to Valparaíso in September."
Fernando López, Seremi of Sports for the Valparaíso Region, also participated in the activity, noting that "first of all, congratulations to TPS for this initiative. It is a project framed within the Donations Law, which is ultimately a public-private alliance that allows organizing events of this magnitude in the Valparaíso Region. It is an eminently family activity, which aligns with what we, as the Ministry, promote, which is physical activity for the family. It is a source of pride for us as the Ministry of Sports, for the company, and for Valparaíso to have an event of this type."
Finally, Franco Gandofo, general manager of Empresa Portuaria Valparaíso, stated that "this fifteenth version of the TPS Valparaíso Half Marathon is very special because it once again finds us with a port open to the city, where the challenge is to transit throughout the entire port facility, and that is very beautiful (…), this year this activity is also being supported by the clients of the Port of Valparaíso, and therefore it brings us all together in this great space and invites us to continue working so that the port and our city develop."
The organizers and sponsors of the race presented the official competition shirt for the TPS Valparaíso Half Marathon 2026 and reiterated the invitation to participate in the event, which includes distances of 21K, 10K, and a 2K children's circuit. Details of the routes and registrations can be found on the website www.mediamaratontps.cl.
