Preliminary investigations indicate that the vessel was likely torn from its anchor by strong winds and then driven ashore on 8 September.
The Primorsky Transport Prosecutor's Office reported that the vessel was unmanned and carried no cargo. No pollution has been recorded in the surrounding waters.
Multiple investigations have been opened into the circumstances of the grounding. The prosecutor's office had previously identified violations involving the vessel and has filed a lawsuit against its owner, seeking an order for the vessel to be securely moored.
