A Russian attack targeted port infrastructure in the Izmail district, in the Odesa region (southern Ukraine), overnight, Ukrainian authorities recently reported.
Fires caused by the attack have been extinguished, authorities added via the Telegram messaging app.
The Russian Ministry of Defense stated that its forces had hit military targets in the port, which it described as "a berthing terminal used for unloading vessels carrying military cargo, hangars housing Western military equipment, and naval drone depots."
Reuters could not verify the ministry's claims.
Izmail, near the border with Romania, is home to Ukraine's largest port on the Danube River.
In a separate attack, Russia stated that its forces had hit a patrol boat and fuel storage tanks in Odesa.
The local governor of the area indicated that a civilian vessel flying the flag of Togo was damaged and that four people were injured.
