Contship presents its first Sustainability Report, corresponding to the 2025 fiscal year and prepared according to the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) standards. The document details the company's main performance indicators and its environmental, social, and governance impact, offering an overview of the initiatives undertaken and the results obtained, in addition to defining a framework for future actions.
This publication represents a further step on the path initiated with the launch of Moves That Matter, Contship's first sustainability strategy, developed from a double materiality assessment and a stakeholder engagement process.
The strategy is structured around three interconnected pillars: Climate Action, Empowered People, and Responsible Leadership, which define the Group's main focus areas and guide its long-term actions and objectives, contributing to value creation for the company, customers, and stakeholders.
Regarding the first point, Contship aims to accelerate the decarbonization of its operations, improve operational efficiency, and strengthen resilience to climate change, while supporting its customers in achieving their sustainability goals.
In 2025, the holding achieved concrete progress in this regard. After calculating its first carbon footprint, Contship recorded an 11% reduction in total greenhouse gas emissions compared to its 2024 baseline and achieved 100% coverage of its electricity demand at the La Spezia and Melzo operating terminals through guarantees of origin from renewable sources.
The Group also formalized its commitment to the Science Based Targets initiative to define emission reduction targets aligned with climate science, thus laying the groundwork for its decarbonization roadmap. Contship plans to formally submit its targets for validation by the end of 2026.
Meanwhile, the holding promotes a fair, inclusive, and diverse work environment, empowering its employees through continuous development and participation opportunities. The company is committed to maintaining high health and safety standards, contributing to the development of the communities in which it operates.
In 2025, more than 13,800 hours of training were provided through courses that combined in-person learning, digital platforms, and practical activities. A key element of the program was the Climate Fresk workshop for managers, which facilitated a clear and structured understanding of the systemic causes, operational implications, and global solutions to the climate crisis, through the scientific findings of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change.
In terms of diversity and inclusion, Contship strengthened its governance model by creating the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DE&I) Committee and launched initiatives focused on women's empowerment. The conglomerate also created a Community Committee to coordinate and strengthen the firm's commitment to the communities and territories in which it operates.
The Responsible Leadership program promotes ethical business conduct, robust governance, responsible supply chain management, and transparent decision-making processes.
In 2025, a standardized Code of Ethics was introduced for the entire Group, along with specific Model 231 frameworks for each subsidiary, further strengthening the existing oversight system.
To support an increasingly structured approach to sustainability management, Contship also created an ESG Council, responsible for strengthening the oversight of ESG matters and their integration into the Group's governance processes. Likewise, it adhered to the United Nations Global Compact, reaffirming its commitment to operate in accordance with internationally recognized principles of corporate responsibility and to promote these guidelines in all its activities and relationships with stakeholders.
"At Contship, we operate within global supply chains, and this role carries a responsibility that goes beyond our own operations. It requires us to work together with our customers and all actors in the value chain to contribute to more efficient and sustainable supply chains. This conviction drives our decision to further integrate sustainability into our way of doing business, defining priorities and objectives and measuring the results we achieve," stated Matthieu Gasselin, CEO of Contship.
"I would like to thank our team, customers, partners, and everyone who contributes every day to the progress we are achieving. Together, we will continue to strengthen the business, create new opportunities across the value chain, and consolidate the results we have achieved in this area," added Gasselin.
"In 2025, we laid the foundations of the Group's ESG strategy, defining our priorities through the double materiality assessment and transforming them into concrete objectives and actions through the Moves That Matter initiative. This report allows us to consolidate the progress made. Our commitment now is to continue measuring performance, engaging our staff and all our stakeholders, and translating priorities into concrete actions," expressed Denise Sofia, ESG Manager at Contship.
