NYK has received the Green Shipping Excellence Award at ShipTek International Conference & Awards Singapore 2026. Capt. Sandeep Chawla, NYK executive officer and head of the NYK Group's South Asia region, attended the award ceremony in Singapore on October 6.
In addition to representing NYK at the ceremony, Capt. Chawla participated as a panelist in the session titled "Navigating Global Trade Disruptions: Building Resilience Across the Maritime Industry," where he exchanged views with industry stakeholders on key issues facing the maritime sector.
The ShipTek awards recognize companies and individuals demonstrating excellence in leadership, operational performance, sustainability, and technological innovation across the maritime, offshore, and energy sectors.
NYK received the Green Shipping Excellence Award for its efforts to promote sustainable shipping through the adoption of low-carbon technologies, the use of alternative fuels, the advancement of energy-efficient operations, and the implementation of decarbonization strategies.
In line with these efforts, the NYK Group is advancing initiatives aimed at achieving net-zero greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 2050, including the use of next-generation fuels such as LNG and ammonia, the introduction of energy-saving technologies, and the pursuit of safe and efficient vessel operations.
