DHL Supply Chain announced that it has entered into an agreement to acquire Open Market, a logistics and transportation operator in Colombia. By integrating the company, which comprises 21 warehouses with a total area of 120,000 square meters, 13 cross-docking platforms, and a transportation network with its own vehicles, DHL Supply Chain strengthens its operational capabilities in the country.
This acquisition further expands DHL's regional presence and supports the execution of the Group's Strategy 2030, reinforcing its objective to grow in the life sciences and healthcare logistics sectors by 2030.
Agustín Croche, CEO of DHL Supply Chain for Latin America, stated that "Open Market's experience significantly complements our current offering in Latin America."
"Its unparalleled high-quality transportation network, with cross-docking platforms and temperature-controlled warehouses, combined with its expertise in supporting dynamic sectors such as life sciences and healthcare, consumer, and engineering and manufacturing, strengthens the quality and reliability of the services we offer our clients in Colombia and throughout the region," Croche remarked.
"This strategic acquisition reaffirms our commitment to accompanying our clients on their growth journey. By closely listening to the evolution of their needs, we continue to invest in strategic capabilities that strengthen their competitiveness and support sustainable growth," Croche indicated.
"At DHL Supply Chain, people are at the heart of our success. By welcoming Open Market employees into our organization, we incorporate colleagues with extensive experience, deep market knowledge, and strong customer relationships, which will further strengthen our service offering in Colombia. This acquisition allows us to provide our clients with even more specialized, reliable, and agile logistics solutions," highlighted Robinson Vásquez, CEO of DHL Supply Chain Colombia.
"The decision to sell our Open Market operations in Colombia is part of our strategy to focus our investments and capabilities in Brazil. However, after so many years, this represents much more than a commercial transaction. Open Market has been an important part of AGV's history. We have built lasting relationships, earned the trust of our clients, and shared a journey with employees, partners, communities, and other stakeholders who helped shape the company we are proud of today," affirmed Aníbal Wadih, Chairman of the Board of Open Market.
"Businesses can change hands, but the trust, relationships, and shared value built over the years endure. That is the legacy we are proud to leave in the hands of DHL, a company with extensive experience in the global logistics sector and undoubtedly the perfect company for this new stage of Open Market," Wadih noted.
