DP World in San Antonio stated that it is working to address the operational situations that have been recorded in the processes for receiving trucks at the terminal and to improve the flow of cargo vehicle traffic.
The concessionaire's assertion comes amid complications for entering the premises that were warned by the Guild Association of Trucking Entrepreneurs (Agec).
In a statement, the company noted that "in relation to the concerns raised by land transport representatives regarding recent truck service processes and waiting times at the Port of San Antonio, DP World in San Antonio states that it takes these situations with the utmost seriousness and recognizes the impact that prolonged waiting times can generate on drivers, transport companies, clients, and the logistics chain as a whole."
Likewise, DP World in San Antonio indicated that "our priority is to provide a safe, reliable, and efficient service to all port users. In this context, DP World in San Antonio is actively working with Empresa Portuaria San Antonio (EPSA), land transport representatives, and other actors in the port community to address operational challenges, strengthen coordination, and contribute to improving truck flow and service times."
"These efforts include periodic operational meetings and participation in joint working groups with different actors in the port community, in addition to measures aimed at improving the coordination of truck arrivals and their access to the terminal," said the port operator.
In the same vein, the concessionaire commented that "recent operational challenges have also coincided with the implementation of changes in the requirements related to working hours established by Chilean labor legislation. DP World in San Antonio fully respects the objective of improving and modernizing labor conditions."
"At the same time, adapting existing port shift structures to these new requirements has involved operational complexities that, during certain periods, have affected the continuity of operations," they added.
"In this area, the company is working constructively with its union representatives to move towards a sustainable work scheme that complies with applicable legislation, safeguards the conditions of its workers, and contributes to ensuring the continuity and reliability required by clients and the logistics chain," they assured.
"DP World in San Antonio reiterates its commitment to dialogue and collaboration with all actors in the port community. The company will continue to work with its workers, transport representatives, EPSA, authorities, and other members of the port ecosystem to address these challenges. The immediate focus is on reducing waiting times, improving operational fluidity, and delivering the level of service expected by users of the Port of San Antonio," the company remarked.
It should also be noted that, previously, the Guild Association of Trucking Entrepreneurs filed a request for a ruling with the Comptroller General of the Republic to investigate the oversight role of Empresa Portuaria San Antonio (EPSA) over concessionaires DP World and San Antonio Terminal Internacional (STI).
According to the organization, the requirement seeks to clarify responsibility regarding the long waits that transporters are experiencing to enter the port, which has caused a series of costs for transporters.
