Ecuador is advancing in the modernization of its customs system through legal reforms and technological tools to strengthen import controls, combat smuggling, and optimize foreign trade operations.
Key advancements include systems such as ECUAPASS, the Ecuadorian Single Window, and Palantir software for risk management. The use of artificial intelligence and data analytics seeks to identify irregular operations, streamline processes, and concentrate controls on higher-risk goods.
Interoperability between Customs, ports, warehouses, carriers, and control entities will facilitate the secure exchange of information and improve supply chain coordination. These tools will also contribute to responding more efficiently to geopolitical changes affecting international routes, costs, and supply chains.
