The Bio Bio Comex Board and the Regional Government will promote and enhance the logistical and port capacity of Greater Concepción through an event for importers and exporters from the central-south macrozone of Chile and Argentina. The event, to be held on October 6th at Suractivo, will feature the presence of eight port companies.
This is the "Biobío Logistics Hub Meeting, connecting Chile with the world" which will feature Puerto Coronel, San Vicente Terminal Internacional (SVTI), Huachipato, Muelles de Penco, Talcahuano Terminal Portuario (TTPSA), Cabo Froward, DP World Lirquén, and Puertos de Talcahuano as exhibitors.
The event will be an instance for technical and strategic dialogue around the main attributes of this chain of goods and services exchange, addressing matters such as infrastructure, connectivity, port capacity, multimodality, trade facilitation, and bioceanic integration. Likewise, it will highlight the competitive advantages of Biobío as the Logistics Hub for cargo originating from the central-south macrozone and Argentine territory.
The meeting will convene representatives from the public and private sectors, including trade associations, logistics and port stakeholders, importers, and exporters. This is with the purpose of sharing visions, visualizing infrastructure capabilities, and continuing to enhance them, in addition to increasing the competitiveness of the regional foreign trade system.
In this framework, the support of the Bio Bio Comex Board, the Regional Government, and the eight port companies reflects the commitment to a collaborative, integrated, and sustainable agenda, aimed at boosting productive development, investment, and the generation of new opportunities for the area.
The organizers highlighted that this milestone is part of the work that the Bio Bio Comex Board has been developing over the last 20 years to position the region as a logistics and port benchmark in southern Chile, promoting coordination among companies, public services, universities, trade associations, and governmental bodies.
"Biobío has a comprehensive logistics offering that has been consolidated based on its port capacities and a network of services that connects the region with foreign trade. Added to this is a public-private governance that for years has allowed building a shared vision and advancing in a coordinated manner. Biobío Logistics Hub is born from this strength and seeks to project it towards the central-south macrozone and Argentina, generating new opportunities for cargo, business, and investment that contribute to the development of our region," said Karem Urzúa, President of the Bio Bio Comex Board.
The Regional Governor of Biobío, Sergio Giacaman, added that "Biobío's logistical and port vocation provides us with unique conditions to lead in this matter. One of our main challenges is to consolidate the region as the great logistics node of the central-south zone of Chile and Argentina. This valuable meeting adds to the work we have promoted from the Regional Government to strengthen our integration with Neuquén."
The highest authority of the area emphasized the importance of promoting meeting spaces that allow aligning public and private efforts around a long-term development agenda.
"A few weeks ago, we took a new step, addressing the opportunities opened by Vaca Muerta and the possibility of connecting its energy matrix with our ports for the export of gas and oil to international markets. But the opportunity goes beyond energy. This integration can turn Biobío into the main logistics platform for the Pacific exit of products from the Argentine provinces, strengthening our strategic position and generating new development opportunities for Bio Bio and the Argentine provinces," he added.
The Biobío Logistics Hub Meeting includes discussion panels, technical presentations, and exchange spaces aimed at exploring the regional logistics offer, business rounds, and stands with representatives of the ports and the companies that make up the Comex Board.
