The Maersk Supply Chain Leaders Forum – one of the most talked about events on the European logistics calendar – returned to Copenhagen at the end of September, with 120 Maersk customers from over 70 organisations coming together for a day of insightful presentations, discussions, and networking.
The theme of the event is shaped by the key topics of discussion across the industry, and underpinning every session in this year's edition was: 'shaping the new era of global logistics: strengthening supply chains through AI'.
AI has very quickly gone from a buzzword to a fundamental part of supply chain success for businesses across Europe, but companies remain at very different stages of their AI journey. Maersk's recent survey of over 800 European businesses revealed that despite the fact 52% are using AI on their supply chain in one way or another, only 5% have scaled across operations.
With this in mind, the goal was clear from event host and Maersk Europe Managing Director Guillaume Sauzedde as he opened proceedings: every attendee must take away at least one actionable insight related to AI that they can implement on their supply chain.
From there, a packed agenda of 10 sessions came under the spotlight, with three networking breaks intertwined to give attendees a chance to discuss new learnings and share ideas.
Customers from Reckitt, Danfoss, VF Corporation and UNICEF all gave their unique perspectives on the world of AI, while Schaeffler outlined how technology is enabling more certainty on their supply chain through Maersk Delivery Guarantee.
Adding to the exclusivity of the Supply Chain Leaders Forum, Krishnan Srinivasan (Maersk Chief Data Officer) also presented the Maersk AI 'North Star' – giving attendees examples of AI projects currently available to them and a glimpse into what's coming in the future.
And to round off the day, Vincent Clerc (Maersk Chief Executive Officer) and Karsten Kildahl (Maersk Chief Commercial Officer) took centre stage for an unscripted Q&A with customers.
AI may be growing across all industries and influencing us every day, but one common view became apparent throughout the event: humanity continues to hold to key to unlocking the best of the technology. With the perspectives shared at the Forum, attendees were given the perfect platform on which to build and make their supply chains more efficient through AI.
