In the framework of the LAC Transport Forum 2026, held in Miami, Peru's Vice Minister of Transport, Gabriela María Carrasco Carrasco, participated in political dialogue sessions and business rounds organized by the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) Group and the International Federation of Consulting Engineers (FIDIC).
The international meeting brought together authorities from 17 Latin American and Caribbean countries, as well as global firms and investment funds, with the aim of mobilizing private capital to reduce the infrastructure gap in the region through resilient, sustainable, and transparent projects.
During the Project Roadshow sessions, Vice Minister Gabriela Carrasco presented to the international financial community the strategic investment opportunities that Peru plans to tender in the next 18 months. The priority portfolio includes port, road, and airport infrastructure valued at over US$2 billion, highlighting key initiatives such as the Port of Corío, the Third Group of Regional Airports, the Chimbote International Terminal, the Integration Road Corridors: Las Vegas – Mazamari – Puerto Ocopa, Atico – Nuñoa – Matarani – Ilo, and the infrastructure of the Zapallal – Ventanilla – Gambeta corridor.
In her interventions, Carrasco emphasized Peru's strong conditions for private investment and welcomed the implementation of IDB initiatives designed to accelerate project preparation, provide greater regulatory transparency, and optimize public bidding processes.
In the area of bilateral relations, the Vice Minister held a working meeting with Spain's Minister of Transport and Sustainable Mobility, Óscar Puente. During the meeting, actions for technical and institutional exchange were coordinated for the transfer of knowledge in railway, port, and road transport management.
In this context, the Spanish minister extended an official invitation to Vice Minister Carrasco for Peru to participate in the Ibero-American Conference of Ministers of Transport and Infrastructure, which will be held in Valladolid (Spain) in October.
With its participation in the LAC Transport Forum, the Ministry of Transport and Communications reaffirms its commitment to positioning Peru as a hub for foreign direct investment, ensuring the development of transport infrastructure that improves the country's logistical competitiveness and the quality of life for all Peruvians.
