Port Moresby's MIT Achieves 31 Movements Per Hour in Operation

Motukea International Terminal (MIT), operated by ICTSI South Pacific in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea, achieved a new productivity record, delivering an average of 31 movements per hour during the recent call of Mariana Express Lines (MELL)'s Kota Gabung.

In 36 hours, the MIT team completed 1,096 container transfers, supported by near-optimal crane deployment, a balanced mix of export and import, and seamless coordination between terminal operations.

This achievement reflects the fundamentals of good port performance: safety, effective planning, disciplined execution, equipment availability, and the collective effort of our staff and partners working towards a common goal. Kota Gabung operates on the consortium service comprising Swire Shipping's North Asia Express (NAX) and Mariana Express Lines' Asia North Australia Express (ANA). The NAX–ANA service provides weekly connectivity for Port Moresby and Lae with key markets in China, including Shanghai, Ningbo, and Nansha, as well as Hong Kong and Australia.
