Paving works on Lot 3 of Route PY15 have reached 40.5% physical progress on the Mariscal Estigarribia–Pozo Hondo section.
Work is progressing steadily to strengthen road connectivity in the Boquerón department, according to the Ministry of Public Works and Communications of Paraguay (MOPC).
This 224-kilometer section, divided into 4 lots between Mariscal Estigarribia and Pozo Hondo, represents the third stage of the Bioceanic Corridor. The infrastructure will boost regional integration by connecting the Atlantic and Pacific oceans, and "will consolidate Paraguay as a key logistical hub for international trade," the ministry highlighted.
"On site, soil tasks are being intensified with the preparation of sub-grade with lime, sub-base with cement, and stabilized granular base. At the same time, crews are laying the asphalt concrete base and constructing culverts to ensure efficient drainage," the entity reported.
To mitigate the effects of the El Niño phenomenon and intense rainfall in the Chaco, personnel receive preventive training. "These sessions train workers in risk management, evacuation, and immediate response to temporary flooding in the work area," the MOPC specified.
"Actions are coordinated through an emergency brigade working with the National Emergency Secretariat, the Municipality of Mariscal Estigarribia, and the Armed Forces. The alliance includes the National Police and Volunteer Firefighters to assist neighboring communities," it added.
In line with what was reported, after each storm, technical teams inspect embankments, remove sediments, and check heavy machinery. "These operational reviews allow work to resume quickly and guarantee maximum safety for all personnel on the track," the Paraguayan ministry emphasized.
