Terminal Pacífico Sur Valparaíso (TPS) has made a new advancement in process digitalization with the launch of a web platform for electronic document endorsement, which is expected to streamline procedures that—until now—were carried out in person and with physical documentation.
"Greater traceability and information security, less time spent on in-person procedures, and more efficiency in operations tracking are the main advantages of the Electronic Endorsement system implemented by TPS, which officially began operations today," communicated the concessionaire of the Port of Valparaíso.
"This will allow cargo importers and their Customs Agents, who handle document submission, to do so through a web platform where documents for cargo manifested to TPS will be uploaded," it added.
In line with what was communicated by TPS, this innovation does not replace or eliminate any currently required documents but modernizes the way the document folder is presented. This is intended to add efficiency to the entire logistics chain.
"The TPS Import Document Center will continue to perform the same document review work using the platform, which is available to all users starting September 1st, at www.tps.cl," TPS stated.
For his part, Nelson Ojeda, TPS Operations Manager, explained that "the Electronic Endorsement of documents is a project that today becomes a reality, and with which we continue to contribute to the great objective of operational excellence that drives us, eliminating procedures that involved carrying papers from one place to another and that from now on will be done online."
"This will also make it easier to trace all documentary processes and thus provide greater information security, which is fundamental for continuing to boost foreign trade," he added.
To facilitate the adoption of the new platform, Terminal Pacífico Sur Valparaíso has made a series of video tutorials available to users on its institutional website. By accessing with their corresponding credentials, clients and operators will be able to learn in detail the correct procedure for uploading and managing documents in the system.
