The Argentine Naval Prefecture completed the first edition of the virtual course "Supervisor in Maritime Traffic Management," an initiative developed within the framework of the Operational Network of Regional Cooperation of Maritime Authorities of the Americas (ROCRAM). The training brought together specialized officers from 12 countries on the continent, including Ecuador, with the aim of strengthening regional integration and promoting more efficient and safer maritime traffic management.
The academic program was coordinated by the institution's Directorate of Maritime, Fluvial, and Lacustrine Traffic and addressed topics related to the operational control of vessels in high-density navigation areas, emergency response protocols, and leadership tools applied to maritime environments. The training was aimed at officials from Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Mexico, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Dominican Republic, Uruguay, and Venezuela, under standards aligned with the International Maritime Organization (IMO) and the International Association of Lighthouse Authorities (IALA).
The initiative contributes to strengthening the technical capabilities of the region's maritime authorities and fosters cooperation among the continent's vessel traffic control centers. Likewise, the participation of Ecuador and other countries in the region promotes the harmonization of procedures in strategic maritime corridors, strengthening navigation safety, the efficiency of port operations, and the continuity of logistics chains linked to international maritime trade.
