CIMC is offering the complete prefabrication of a boutique hotel, its overseas shipment, and rapid assembly upon arrival. This is what it achieved with a client in Saudi Arabia, thus transforming local hotel construction practices.
Riyadh, a city that suffers from scorching 50°C heat year-round, faces a growing shortage of hotels due to the boom in its cultural tourism sector. Traditional construction takes two to three years, and the efficiency of outdoor work drastically decreases due to extreme heat. The Earth Hotel Riyadh project, developed and built by CIMC Modular Building, officially departed from its Jiangmen Smart Manufacturing Base.
The 104 building modules were shipped from Jiangmen Port and will travel thousands of kilometers across the ocean to Saudi Arabia, where they will be quickly assembled to form a complete boutique hotel. This first modular hotel project by CIMC in the Middle East is scheduled to open in early 2027.
Located in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia, the project has a built area of approximately 11,000 square meters and 99 rooms, with an opening planned for early 2027. Unlike conventional construction, most of the hotel's work, including the main structure, electromechanical systems, interior finishes, and furniture, fixtures, and equipment, was previously completed in Chinese factories. Once the modules arrive in Saudi Arabia, teams only need to perform quick on-site installation and connection, which drastically reduces the construction timeline and minimizes the environmental impact of the works on the local community.
The project is expected to reduce construction times by more than 50%, while also decreasing construction activity and waste generated, thus offering a more predictable and controlled project execution model for hotel investors.
Zhu Weidong, General Manager of CIMC Modular Building, stated that "the Earth Hotel project represents a key milestone in our growing expansion in the Middle East. The region offers enormous growth potential and, in turn, demands greater efficiency, quality, and sustainability in projects. Moving forward, we will leverage the global resources of the CIMC Group and inter-sectoral synergies, consolidate long-term partnerships with local players, and bring modular construction to more sectors, such as hotels, housing, education, healthcare, and senior living facilities."
Leveraging the integrated capabilities of the CIMC Group in global manufacturing, supply chain, cross-border logistics, and project execution, in addition to the local presence of its regional headquarters in the Middle East and North Africa, CIMC Modular Building is strengthening its local market coverage, customer service, and project execution systems, actively participating in high-quality urban development throughout the region.
