APM Terminals Callao, operator of the North Multipurpose Terminal of the Port of Callao, is currently servicing the vessel Alicia, which arrived loaded with eight retired CSX locomotives.
The rolling stock was loaded at the U.S. port of Jacksonville in early July 2026, specifically at the Blount Island terminal.
"Eight retired CSX locomotives recently transited through Jaxport en route to their new owner in Peru," announced the Jacksonville Port Authority (Jaxport).
"Thanks to its direct rail connection with CSX, on-dock rail access, and a load-bearing capacity of 9.76 tons per square meter, the Blount Island terminal was ideally equipped to carry out the operation," it added.
"Specialized infrastructure and technical capacity make maneuvers of this magnitude possible, connecting oversized and project cargo with global markets, including South America," Jaxport complemented.
The vessel, flying the flag of Portugal (Madeira), departed from the Port of Jacksonville on July 19, 2026, with its final destination being Peru.
Its voyage included calls at Port Everglades and transit through the Panama Canal, arriving at Callao Bay on August 12.
It is worth noting that in July 2025, APM Terminals Callao was involved in a historic unloading of railway cargo in Peru, which consisted of more than 3,300 tons distributed among 43 carriages and 11 locomotives. This marked the beginning of the Lima-Chosica Train project.
