Manta Unloads 5,335 Vehicles in Record Ro-Ro Operation

The Port of Manta has achieved a new operational record, unloading 5,335 vehicles from a single vessel, marking the largest ro-ro operation since Manta Port Terminal took over the administration of the international terminal in 2017.

The MN Kang Qian Kou, a 199-meter long vessel from the Chinese shipping line Cosco Shipping Specialized Carriers, arrived from the Port of Shanghai at international dock 2 to unload all the units it was transporting.

This vessel is part of a new generation of high-capacity car carriers and features a dual-fuel propulsion system, allowing it to use liquefied natural gas as a more efficient fuel alternative.

"Behind an operation of this magnitude are many hours of planning, experience, and a committed team to ensure each maneuver is carried out swiftly and safely," stated Manta Port Terminal (TPM), which, as of August 2026, has received 109 car carrier vessels.
