A partial collapse affected Dock 1 of the Exolgan terminal, located in Puerto Dock Sud, amidst the intense storm that impacted the Buenos Aires Metropolitan Area (AMBA). The incident occurred during the heavy rains recorded in the metropolitan region.
Exolgan specified that the collapse occurred in an out-of-service section of the terminal and noted that no injuries were reported as a result of the collapse.
Likewise, the company indicated that access for full and empty containers continues to operate normally and without delays, while work progresses to determine the causes and extent of the damage.
The incident occurred in the context of the strong storm that affected the AMBA between the night of Friday, July 31, and the early morning and morning of Saturday, August 1, with intense rains that left accumulations exceeding 60 and 88 millimeters in different areas and records that surpassed 100 millimeters in less than 24 hours in some sectors of Buenos Aires City.
The rainfall also caused flooded streets and inundations in various municipalities of the Buenos Aires conurbation, including Avellaneda, Quilmes, Lanús, and La Plata.
The company stated that once the extent of the damage is determined, it will provide new information about the incident.
