The Minister of Ports and Airports, Tomé Franca, will participate this Friday (12), in Ipojuca (PE), in the official delivery ceremony of the new APM Terminals container terminal at the Suape Industrial Port Complex. The ceremony will bring together representatives from federal and state governments, port sector leaders, logistics operators, investors, and representatives of the business community.
With an investment exceeding R$ 1.6 billion, the terminal was designed to increase the port complex's container handling capacity by 55% and strengthen Pernambuco's strategic position in international trade routes. The facility will feature electrically powered equipment, remote operation, operational automation, and integrated digital infrastructure.
The new terminal is expected to initially handle up to 400,000 TEUs (twenty-foot equivalent units) per year and expand the connection of the Northeast with markets in Latin America, North America, Europe, and Asia. Projections indicate an additional generation of up to R$ 4.8 billion in exports, in addition to more than 43,000 potential jobs, along the productive chains associated with foreign trade.
