The Steering Committee of the Western Ligurian Sea Port System Authority expressed a favorable opinion on the concession to Porto Antico di Genova (a public limited company 57.7% owned by the Municipality of Genoa and 3.8% by the Port Authority) of a single state maritime concession in accordance with Article 36 of the Italian Navigation Code, valid until December 31, 2050, along with the authorization to execute the related investment program aimed at the structural and infrastructural development of the area.
This measure unifies existing assets and allows for continuity in the overall operation of the complex, coordinating its development in line with the business plan presented by the company, which includes projects scheduled for the 2024-2031 period, among them the Aquarium, the Bigo, the Technological Bubble, and the nautical facilities of the Old Port.
The new resources represent a concrete step towards the completion of strategic projects for the competitiveness of the Port of Genoa, strengthening its role in the national and European logistics landscape and ensuring compliance with the deadlines established in the Extraordinary Program.
"Regarding state property, the favorable opinion on the renewal of the Porto Antico di Genova SpA concession until 2050 represents an important sign of stability and long-term planning for one of Genoa's most unique and attractive places, benefiting residents, tourists, and the entire local economy," declared the Authority's President, Matteo Paroli.
