Hexagon announced an agreement to acquire Guidance Marine, a UK-based company focused on sensors that measure a vessel's position relative to nearby structures, such as offshore platforms, wind turbines, docks, and other ships, enabling vessels to maintain their position and maneuver safely within a few meters of fixed and floating assets.
Founded in 1991 and headquartered in Leicester, Guidance Marine serves clients in over 40 countries. Its radar, laser, vision, and microwave-based sensing solutions are used in the offshore energy industry, shipbuilding, port operations, and naval applications, and are integrated with leading dynamic positioning (DP) systems, the automated controls that maintain a vessel's location without the need for anchoring.
Guidance Marine's technologies complement Hexagon's existing maritime capabilities, whose solutions for GNSS, location correction, interference protection, and precise positioning establish a vessel's absolute location, while GM's sensors determine the relative distance to surrounding structures and assets.
The integration of both technologies strengthens Hexagon's ability to meet all of a vessel's positioning needs from a single integrated portfolio, and consolidates its relationships with dynamic positioning system providers and operators.
This transaction also expands Hexagon's presence in the offshore wind energy, shipbuilding, and port automation sectors, where stricter tolerances and the increasing level of vessel autonomy drive demand for high-precision positioning systems. Guidance Marine's installed base in over 40 countries and its consolidated relationships with original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) facilitate Hexagon's access to these applications.

The merger is expected to finalize by the end of 2026, at which point Guidance Marine will become part of Hexagon's NovAtel Positioning Division, within the Autonomous Solutions Business Area.
Guidance Marine generated revenues of approximately USD 27 million in the fiscal year ended December 31, 2025, with an operating margin higher than Hexagon's average.
