MacGregor reported that it has experienced a very positive trend in the demand for its electric cranes during the first half of 2026.
Demand remained strong during the first half of 2026, with electric cranes accounting for over 80% of total orders. Most orders came from heavy-lift and multipurpose vessels. Another important segment corresponds to container ships, which are experiencing a resurgence compared to previous years.
The current portfolio, which includes heavy-lift cranes from the HCE series and container cranes from the MCE series, uses advanced second-generation Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) technology. These systems offer significant operational advantages over traditional hydraulic drives, such as up to 60% lower energy consumption, greater precision, and the complete elimination of hydraulic oil leakage risks.

MacGregor began developing electric cranes more than 20 years ago and currently has over 800 in operation. In addition to this wide range, the company also offers other electric products such as hatch covers, deck machinery, and access gangways, as well as technical support and maintenance services, extending the equipment's lifespan.
