Port of Bristol Retires Dredger Malago After 40 Years of Operations

The Port of Bristol (United Kingdom) announced that it has decommissioned its dredger Malago after 40 years of service. The vessel was sold, ending its operations at the aforementioned maritime station.

Details of this milestone were provided on the Bristol Port Company website, explaining that "Malago played an important role in helping to maintain safe and reliable access to the port. Its articulated and rotating cutter head was designed to cut and remove silt from the dock, before pumping the material through a floating pipeline into the Severn Estuary."

Furthermore, it was reported that "as it approached the end of its operational life with the port, Malago made the decision to invest in the new state-of-the-art cutter suction dredger, the Trym."

"The new vessel supports the Port of Bristol's commitment to developing a more sustainable and efficient fleet, while improving reliability and resilience for many years to come," the publication added.
