Bulk Carrier First Margaux Collides with Chinese Fishing Vessel in Singapore Strait

The Panamanian-flagged bulk carrier First Margaux collided with the Chinese fishing vessel Lu Qing Yuan Yu 108 in the Singapore Strait on 17 September. No injuries or significant damage have been reported in the incident.

Both vessels departed from their respective anchorages east of Singapore and entered the westbound traffic separation scheme. The First Margaux reportedly collided and damaged the fishing vessel.

Following the collision both vessels ended up anchoring. The Lu Qing Yuan Yu 108 despite being damaged, continued on its own power and made berth. The First Margaux initially continued sailing for two hours at a speed of 10 knots then turned back to anchor.

There have been no reports of an investigation being opened into the incident.
