The maritime terminal Malta Freeport received the call of the vessel CMA CGM Sorbonne. The call is part of the itinerary of the MEX service of the aforementioned shipping company.
Details of the operation were provided on the Maltese terminal's website, stating that "five cranes were deployed, discharging 3,493 units (5,742 TEU) and loading 984 units (1,870 TEU), which underscores the Terminal's ability to manage vessels of this size safely and efficiently."
Furthermore, regarding the vessel, it was communicated that "with a total length of 400 meters, the CMA CGM Sorbonne is among the largest container ships in the CMA CGM fleet and is part of the pioneering series of nine 23,000 TEU vessels powered by LNG. Compared to conventional fuels, LNG significantly reduces sulfur dioxide, fine particulate matter, and nitrogen oxide emissions."
"The successful management of vessels of this size reflects the modern combination of infrastructure at Malta Freeport Terminals, advanced equipment, and the expertise of our employees," the publication concluded.
