Eimskip and Port of Helsingborg Sign Agreement Until 2031

The Port of Helsingborg and Eimskip signed a new five-year agreement that will be valid from January 2027 to December 2031. The contract covers vessel calls, terminal services, and the continuous development of storage and office facilities within the port area.

The collaboration dates back to 2017, when the Icelandic shipping company moved its weekly call to Helsingborg. This move was part of Eimskip's strategy to further optimize cargo flows and improve customer service in transports between the Nordic region, the North Atlantic, and North America.

"Helsingborg has been Eimskip's chosen port in Sweden since 2017 and plays an important role in our network connecting the Nordic region, the North Atlantic, and North America. This new agreement provides us with a solid foundation to continue developing our services and creating value for our customers in the coming years," said Gunnlaugur Grettisson, Managing Director of Eimskip Sweden.

"We are also encouraged by the investments and development initiatives being carried out by the Port of Helsingborg, including progress towards a new container port in the south, a greater focus on customs process efficiency, and the implementation of shore power solutions. These are important steps that will further strengthen Helsingborg's position as a sustainable and competitive logistics hub," added Grettisson.

The new agreement means that Eimskip will continue to develop its operations in Helsingborg in the coming years. As part of the agreement, a warehouse adjacent to the south port will be rebuilt and adapted to the shipping company's needs, and nearby offices will be modernized.

Since 2017, we have jointly developed services and facilities, and this new agreement creates excellent conditions for continued development in the coming years," noted Sune Norup Christensen, Commercial Director of the Port of Helsingborg.

The agreement also covers vessel calls and stuffing and stripping services. "We are very pleased to have reached this agreement. Eimskip is an important partner for the Port of Helsingborg, and we look forward to continuing to develop our collaboration for many years," concluded the port executive.
