Maersk is implementing the Heavy Load Surcharge for all 40 equipment types with Verified Gross Mass (VGM) exceeding 20 metric tons from Far East Asia to United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Iraq, Kuwait, Oman, and Qatar, effective price calculation date 5th Oct 2026
The tariff levels are as follows:

*Far East Asia countries include Brunei, China, Hong Kong China, Indonesia, Japan, Cambodia, Mongolia, South Korea, Laos, Myanmar, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan China, Thailand, and Vietnam.
40 equipment types in this implementation include 40' Dry, 40'High Dry, 40'Bulk, 40'Collapsible Flat rack, 40' Flat rack, 40' Hive, 40' Pallet Wide, 40' Open top, 40' Tank, and 40' Twin Deck.
When Verified Gross Mass (VGM) exceeds the weight threshold, Heavy Load Surcharge will be triggered. The Verified Gross Mass (VGM) is the weight of the cargo including dunnage and bracing plus the tare weight of the container carrying this cargo.
Heavy Load Surcharge is only applicable to contract bookings.
Non-SPOT booking – The above rate is retrieved based on PCD. PCD = Price Calculation Date. For non-FMC, PCD refers to the scheduled departure date of the first water leg at the time of booking confirmation for non-spot bookings. For FMC, PCD is last container gate-in date for non-spot bookings.

For trades subject to the US Shipping Act or the China Maritime Regulations, quotations or surcharges that vary from the Maersk tariff shall not be binding on Maersk unless included in a service contract or service contract amendment that has been filed with the Federal Maritime Commission (FMC) or the Shanghai Shipping Exchange, as applicable.
