Puerto Lázaro Cárdenas, September 18, 2026.- In compliance with the National Beach and Coast Cleanup and Conservation Campaign 2025–2030, and within the framework of the commemoration of International Beach Cleanup Day, the Third Beach Cleanup Campaign 2026 was carried out on September 18, at Playa Cancuncito.
The event saw the participation of 1 53 volunteers, including authorities, representatives of port terminals, personnel from the H. Ayuntamiento de Lázaro Cárdenas, and members of educational institutions in the region.
Authorities such as PROFEPA, SEMARNAT, Aduana, Décima Sexta Zona Naval, and Capitanía de Puerto participated in this activity. Likewise, representatives from companies and port terminals such as SSA Lázaro Cárdenas, PEMEX, UTTSA, APM Terminals, and LC Logistics joined, in addition to personnel from the H. Ayuntamiento de Lázaro Cárdenas, through the Ecology and Tourism departments.
Similarly, the participation of the Centro de Estudios Tecnológicos del Mar (CETMAR No. 16) and the Universidad Politécnica de Lázaro Cárdenas, Michoacán, allowed the integration of students in this event, strengthening the involvement of the educational community in actions aimed at the care and conservation of the coastal environment.
As a result of the joint effort, a total of 238.61 kilograms of waste was collected and classified, including mainly PET plastic, glass, aluminum, tires, scrap metal, and inorganic waste, contributing to maintaining cleaner coastal spaces suitable for the community.
With these actions, the Port of Lázaro Cárdenas and its Port Community reaffirm their commitment to environmental protection and beach conservation, through collaboration among authorities, companies, educational institutions, and citizens.
In this way, the Port of Lázaro Cárdenas continues to strengthen a vision of sustainable development, promoting actions that contribute to preserving the coastal environment and encouraging greater community participation in its care.
