As part of the actions aimed at strengthening the culture of prevention and response capacity in an emergency, the National Port System Administration Manzanillo (ASIPONA Manzanillo) participated today in the earthquake drill carried out in a coordinated manner within the port facility.
The exercise took place from 12:00 to 12:07 hours, achieving an evacuation time of less than two minutes by ASIPONA Manzanillo personnel. In total, more than 100 people were evacuated from the Port Administration's facilities, who moved in an orderly manner to the established points as part of the internal security and civil protection protocols.
In parallel, all concessionaires and terminals operating within the port conducted the drill in their own facilities, with the participation of approximately 700 people. These actions allow evaluating evacuation procedures, strengthening coordination among the different actors that make up the port community, and identifying areas of opportunity to improve the response to a potential emergency situation.
As part of the preventive activities carried out during the day, Municipal Civil Protection also conducted a tsunami drill, in which people in the Tuny area participated, walking to pre-established meeting points.
In this deployment, ASIPONA Manzanillo collaborated with security and escort tasks through personnel from the Land Traffic Control Center (CCTT), responsible for providing security during the movement of people to the meeting points located at the Impala Logistics Terminal and at the railway crossing of Tapeixtles.
Likewise, as a preventive measure and to support the attention of any eventuality during the journey, the Port Emergency Center (CEP) provided escort with a rapid attack vehicle and two firefighters.
The realization of these drills represents a fundamental tool to test action protocols, strengthen coordination among authorities, companies, and port personnel, as well as promote a culture of prevention that allows reducing risks and protecting the integrity of people in the face of natural phenomena.
For ASIPONA Manzanillo, active participation in this type of practice reaffirms the commitment to maintain a prepared and coordinated port community, where prevention and safety are priority elements to guarantee responsible and safe operation.
