An agenda to strengthen multimodal connectivity, improve logistical efficiency, and facilitate foreign trade in the Peruvian Amazon was addressed during the XIV Public-Private Technical Roundtable to promote foreign trade through the Amazonas–Norte Multimodal Corridor, an initiative of the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism (MINCETUR).

The meeting, held on October 21 in the city of Iquitos, brought together representatives of public entities, business associations, and stakeholders linked to foreign trade, who reviewed projects and proposals to close logistical gaps and expand opportunities for commercial integration.

The agenda prioritized initiatives to strengthen port infrastructure and aquatic transport services in the Amazon. Projects for the Loreto port terminals, in Saramiriza, and Iquitos, in Sinchicuy; the Amazon Waterway; the improvement of river navigation in the Yurimaguas–Santa Rosa section; and the development of port infrastructure in Pucallpa and Yurimaguas were addressed.

Regarding roads, interventions in the corridor were reviewed, including the execution of the Querpón Bridge, the Aguas Claras and Naranjillo bridge projects, and the actions planned within the framework of the contingency plan for the El Niño Phenomenon. Likewise, initiatives linked to the Paita foreport, the Yurimaguas Port Terminal, and the Moyobamba–Balsapuerto–Yurimaguas corridor were presented.

Likewise, actions were addressed to strengthen border integration and bilateral coordination mechanisms between Peru and Brazil to facilitate trade and cross-border transit, with the aim of generating new opportunities for Peruvian companies.

Representatives from MINCETUR, MTC, PRODUCE, the Regional Government of Loreto, APN, ENAPU, PROMPERÚ, PROINVERSIÓN, SUNAT, MIGRACIONES, MINSA, SENASA, SANIPES, ZED PAITA, the Chambers of Commerce of Yurimaguas and Loreto, and the Association of Shipowners and Related Activities of Loreto (AARMAN) participated in the session. Representatives from OCEX São Paulo, MRE, and the IIRSA Norte concessionaire participated remotely.

An Articulated Agenda to Facilitate Foreign Trade

The actions addressed are part of MINCETUR's strategy to promote the development and articulation of the Amazonas–Norte, Centro, and Sur multimodal corridors, as platforms to improve the efficiency of logistics chains and expand foreign trade opportunities.

The XIV Technical Roundtable is consolidated as a public-private coordination space to articulate projects, identify gaps, and promote solutions in infrastructure, quality of logistical services, transport, facilitation, and border integration, with the aim of strengthening the competitiveness of the northern Amazon and its commercial link with Brazil and other international markets.
