Mincetur promotes dry port at Cusco airport for exports

The Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism (Mincetur) of Peru confirmed that it is working on the implementation of a dry shipping port at Cusco airport with the aim of facilitating foreign trade operations from the region. This information was announced by the head of the sector, Rogers Valencia.

"Regarding legislative powers, we have several proposals, particularly those related to foreign trade," he declared after participating in the launch of the new Cusco-São Paulo air route, as reported by the Andina agency.

Valencia explained that the Cusco airport currently does not have a dry port that allows export operations directly from this terminal.

"Currently, at Cusco airport, you cannot export to Santiago or anywhere else because we don't have a dry port," he noted.

In this regard, the authority indicated that Mincetur has already begun the corresponding paperwork to make this infrastructure a reality.

This measure would expand logistical alternatives for Cusco exporters and take advantage of the increased international connectivity the city will have.

This announcement is part of Mincetur's foreign trade facilitation agenda, in a context of seeking new opportunities for commercial exchange.

A dry shipping port is an inland transport terminal that functions as an extension of a maritime port facility.
