Armed Boarding of Merchant Vessel Off the Coast of Yemen
A merchant vessel was boarded by four individuals armed with RPGs and small arms 76 nautical miles south of Balhaf, Yemen. The UKMTO classified the incident as an effective assault after confirming damage to the bridge. A few hours later, 85 nautical miles from the same location, a tanker was harassed by a suspicious vessel. Maritime authorities recommended extreme caution in the region.
