U.S. Forces Disable Third Tanker This Week Off Oman with Indian Crew
U.S. forces disabled the asphalt/bitumen tanker Jalveer (6,395 dwt) off Oman on June 11, firing two Hellfire missiles into its engine room. The vessel, registered in Guinea-Bissau and managed from India, was accused of attempting to transport Iranian oil through a U.S. blockade. Twenty Indian crewmembers were evacuated without serious injuries. India's government summoned the U.S. chargé d'affaires and filed a strong protest, while CENTCOM reported nine non-combatant vessels disabled and 135 ships redirected.
