Conflict in Yemen Halts Maritime Traffic in Bab el-Mandeb
The escalation of the conflict in Yemen has paralyzed maritime traffic through the Bab el-Mandeb Strait, with an 88% drop in vessel passage. According to IMF PortWatch data, only four vessels crossed in the last 24 hours, while tanker transit decreased by 91%. 10% of global maritime trade and 12% of crude oil shipments pass through the strait.
