Chile Lifts NV Athena Quarantine After Confirming Malaria Death
The Bio Bío Health Seremi lifted the quarantine of the NV Athena after confirming that the Vietnamese sailor died of malaria. According to Isabel Rojas, the disease does not pose a risk of contagion to the crew, as it is transmitted by Anopheles mosquitoes, which are not present in the region. The vessel entered the Las Higueras Hospital in Talcahuano on July 26 with hemorrhagic fever.
