Indian Officer Dies Aboard Tanker in Sea of Oman Amid Delayed Medical Assistance
A 35-year-old Indian second officer aboard the tanker Celestial Sea died on 11 June after becoming critically ill and failing to receive timely medical evacuation in the Sea of Oman. According to the Forward Seamen's Union of India, multiple distress alerts went unanswered and the body remained on board for three days without adequate refrigeration. The Indian Embassy in Oman confirmed the remains were disembarked at Duqm port on 14 June and transferred to the local Ministry of Health hospital for repatriation to India.
