U.S. Navy Jet Fires Upon, Disables Iranian Tanker Accused of Violating Washington's Blockade
U.S. Navy forces disabled the Iranian-flagged tanker M/T Hasna in the Gulf of Oman on May 6 after it attempted to violate Washington's blockade on vessels entering or departing Iranian ports. An F/A-18 Super Hornet launched from USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN 72) fired 20mm cannon rounds to disable the tanker's rudder. The incident follows a similar April incident involving M/V Touska and reflects escalating U.S. enforcement of the blockade announced in April.
