Projectile Strikes Tanker East of Hormuz Strait, Ignites Fire
A tanker was hit by an unknown projectile about 8 nautical miles east of Limah, Oman, while traveling southbound near the Strait of Hormuz late Monday, sparking a fire onboard with no casualties or pollution reported. The incident occurred on the U.S.-coordinated southern transit corridor, which has become the primary route for commercial vessels following last month's U.S.-Iran ceasefire agreement. The Joint Maritime Information Center reiterated that the maritime security threat level in the Strait of Hormuz remains "SUBSTANTIAL," though the expanded corridor remains open to all commercial traffic.
