The Port of Antwerp (Belgium) received a giant module destined for the ethane cracker plant. The infrastructure is 55 meters high, equivalent to an 18-story building, and weighs 7,000 tons.
Details of the project were provided on the Belgian port's website, stating that "with the integration of these last missing components into the cracker plant, the puzzle is complete. The ethane cracker plant will convert ethane into ethylene."
"Ethylene is used in a wide range of applications, such as medical devices, automotive parts, wind turbines, solar panels, and insulating materials," it added.
Furthermore, it was announced that "the groundbreaking ceremony for the new ONE Project ethane cracker plant took place on December 15, 2022. According to Ineos, Project ONE represents the largest investment in the European chemical sector since 2000 and will create approximately 450 new jobs.
"Also, the new ethane cracker plant will produce only half the CO₂ of currently operating ethane cracker plants, which are among the 10% least polluting," the statement concluded.
