DP World Lirquén Increases Containers by 19% in First Half of 2026

DP World in Lirquén increased total containerized cargo mobilized by 14% in the first half of 2026 and the number of units by 19% compared to the same period in 2025.

Michael Spoerer, General Manager of DP World in Lirquén, detailed that "the total containerized cargo mobilized from January to June 2026 was 2,113,000 tons, with a 14% growth compared to the same period last year. The number of containers was 123,401, with a 19% growth compared to the same period in 2025."

"DP World in Lirquén, with 60 hectares, over 145,000 square meters of warehouses, and four berths, is the most competitive and reliable alternative for exporters and importers in the region who need infrastructure, operational continuity, traceability, flexibility, trust, and long-term partnerships," Spoerer added.

"We have direct, secure, and expedited connections, as well as large storage capacity within the terminal and an extensive range of solutions that reinforce and complement our port operation, as a leading global provider of integrated logistics solutions," the executive expanded.

Spoerer also highlighted the speed with which operations recovered after the fire, emphasizing that the terminal is operating at 100%, which also helps to mitigate any rumors that could affect the perception of current operations.

"DP World in Lirquén has the most protected bay in the Bio Bio Region, it is the best logistical alternative for cargo coming from the Maule Region and the south of the country, it has excellent connectivity to Route 5 without passing through urban areas, excellent connection with the railway network for receiving forest cargo and mobilizing containers, and direct train service to DP World in San Antonio and to Santiago's logistics centers. Likewise, during these weeks of storms, we have been able to maintain relevant operations normally, thanks to our location, infrastructure, and operational response capacity," the general manager stated.

The executive recalled that in recent years they have invested more than USD 47 million in the Lirquén multipurpose terminal, reinforcing the areas of greatest value for their clients, incorporating more efficient cranes, electric equipment with a lower carbon footprint, and working to build additional storage capacity. "We have implemented new standards to generate greater productivity and safety in operations," he concluded.
