The Federal Port Authority – Codeba and Senai Cimatec signed a Commitment Term for the cession of a space at the Port of Salvador, intended to house Research, Development, and Innovation (R&D&i) activities by Cimatec Mar and to host the postgraduate course in Port Engineering and Blue Economy. The initiative is part of an alliance aimed at developing advanced solutions for the Sea Economy.
The signing took place during the inauguration of the 2nd ANB International Nautical Forum, with the presence of Codeba president, Antonio Gobbo; the manager of the Port of Salvador, Luanna Rios; and the general director of Senai Cimatec, Luis Breda.
The document formalizes the allocation of a 710 m² area, located at the Port of Salvador, for the installation of a laboratory that will house the Control Center of the Underwater Test Park, which will be implemented in the Bay of All Saints for the development of underwater robotics (subsea) activities aimed at the offshore industry in Brazil and worldwide.
For Codeba president, Antonio Gobbo, the initiative positions Bahia in a technological sphere of international reach.
"Few countries have this type of infrastructure. This alliance, without a doubt, positions Codeba and the State of Bahia as drivers of technology for important industrial segments of the blue economy," he noted.
The alliance contemplates, among its lines of action, support for Offshore and Subsea Engineering and Innovation projects, Naval and Nautical Engineering, initiatives in the areas of Defense and Security, especially in collaboration with the Brazilian Navy, in addition to the implementation of the National Center of Port Excellence.
The training in Port Engineering and Blue Economy is inserted in this context of bringing together technical knowledge, innovation, and the demands of the port sector. The initiative seeks to contribute to the training of professionals capable of developing in an environment marked by the growing integration between port infrastructure, engineering, technology, and economic activities related to the sea.
Senai Cimatec's general director, Luis Brêda, highlighted the importance of the project developed in partnership with Codeba, which will allow for joint construction, taking advantage of access to the sea and the port, and incorporating the component of technology and innovation.
"I believe we are taking a very important step for the construction of Cimatec Mar, which is already born with innovation projects connected to the entire sea industry of Brazil and which will certainly have relevant contributions to society, in addition to having a completely differentiated infrastructure here," he affirmed.
The initiative reinforces the perspective of using the port environment also as a space for knowledge, innovation, professional training, and the development of solutions for the economy linked to the sea, expanding the integration between the public sector, industry, academia, and port activities.
