The Minister of Ports and Airports, Tomé Franca, participated in Santos Export this Thursday (28). The event is one of the most important articulation spaces in the sector in Brazil and seeks to bring together the public and private sectors for dialogue on structural investments, concessions, and innovation for solutions to the country's logistical bottlenecks across all modes. "The idea of being here is to listen to the sector, dialogue, and learn from the sector, so that we can be more assertive in public policies," stated Minister Tomé Franca.
In his participation, the minister highlighted that all entities involved in the debate regarding the Tecon Santos 10 auction have already expressed positions and observations regarding the tender model, and that there is an expectation that the tender will be published this year. "All positions that could be presented have already been put on the table, and now it is necessary that we strongly pursue the publication of this tender because the Port of Santos cannot wait, Brazil's infrastructure can no longer wait," he affirmed.
Guarujá Airport
At the event, the minister also highlighted the advancements at Guarujá Airport, strategic for logistical integration in the region, alongside the Port of Santos and the Santos-Guarujá Tunnel, the largest project of the New PAC, with R$ 6.4 million in resources, divided among the Federal and state governments and the private sector.
The terminal has already received over R$ 20 million in investment, including the expansion of the runway and taxiway, and is in the final phase of implementation for regional commercial flights. Currently, the Aerodrome Protection Zone Basic Plan (PBZPA) is being carried out to ensure the safety of aircraft landing, takeoff, and approach operations.
"The City Hall is taking care of the studies for landing and takeoff. In a maximum of six months, we should have these studies concluded to present the project to Anac for runway homologation, the terminal is also advancing, and our joint work to seek demands to have more and more regular flights," he highlighted.
Waterway Transport
Reinforcing the Ministry of Ports and Airports' focus on waterway transport, Minister Tomé Franca also highlighted investments in the sector for national development, such as the R$ 875.9 million in Porto Manaus Moderna, announced on Wednesday by President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, in addition to contributions via the Merchant Marine Fund.
"Robust investments. Four billion reais for 400 vessels in the Juruá shipyard, plus R$ 500 million for 36 vessels, 18 of which will be built in the state of Amazonas and 18 in Santa Catarina, and this makes up part of the R$ 88 billion in projects that have been approved in the last three years and three months in the Merchant Marine Fund, which signifies robustness and strength in the infrastructure sector, but especially in the waterway sector," he added.
According to the minister, the objective is to strengthen the mode with the advancement of concessions. "This same dialogue that made us build this union capable of making the Santos tunnel, we need to establish to bring the importance of waterways to Brazil, placing them not only as a channel of solution for access and for national logistical efficiency, but especially as a solution for a better quality of life," he concluded.
