A delegation from Rondônia, led by Governor Coronel Marcos Rocha, visited Portos do Paraná this Wednesday (28) to learn about the differentiators that make the Paraná ports a national reference in management and efficiency. The objective was to learn about experiences that can contribute to increasing port productivity in the state, located in the North region of Brazil.
The governor was accompanied by the CEO of the Society of Ports and Waterways of the State of Rondônia (SOPH), Fernando Cesar Ramos Parente, and the Deputy Chief Secretary of the Military House of Rondônia, Alexandre Gonçalves Viana. The delegation was received by the CEO of Portos do Paraná, Luiz Fernando Garcia, and by directors of the public company.
"We came here to learn, to talk with the entire management team and to see this marvel, which is one of the models for Brazil, and we are enchanted with the structure. We want to learn and take to Rondônia a little of what Portos do Paraná has here, to talk with our entire team about how much we can also grow," said Governor Marcos Rocha.
The reception took place at Palácio Taguaré, Portos do Paraná's administrative headquarters. Afterwards, the delegation visited areas of the quay.
During the meeting, the representatives of Rondônia learned about initiatives related to port infrastructure and logistics, with an emphasis on investments, concessions, and leases of areas. According to Luiz Fernando Garcia, knowing that the Paraná experience can contribute to the development of other Brazilian ports is a source of great pride.
"They seek to create a reality similar to ours. The prospect is to lease areas and concede a waterway. We end up being a mirror for other port authorities and federal entities to develop in the best possible way," highlighted the CEO.
Logistics Integration
Although located in the heart of the Amazon, the state of Rondônia has a commercial port in the capital, Porto Velho, on the banks of the Madeira River. The waterway connects to the Amazon River and allows navigation to the Atlantic Ocean, on a journey of more than 2,000 kilometers. In 2025, the Organized Port of Porto Velho handled just over 2 million tons of cargo, with soybeans being a highlight.
With the expansion of agribusiness, Rondônia is looking for logistical alternatives to expand connections with international markets. For Governor Marcos Rocha, the exchange of experiences with Portos do Paraná can contribute to this advance.
"Rondônia has a different port, which is on the Madeira River, through which it is possible to reach the State of Pará and exit through the Atlantic. We are also working on an exit to Asia from the Pacific Ocean, which will bring a 10-day reduction in transport to the East. But we are learning to grow; it is knowledge that opens borders for our country," concluded Rocha.
