The Port Authority of Castellón has initiated the tender process for contracting its new Economic and Socioeconomic Impact Study of the Port of Castellón. After more than a decade since the last report was prepared in 2014, this initiative will allow for an updated quantification of the port's real contribution to the economic growth of the province of Castellón and the Valencian Community, evaluating its impact on employment and the overall productive sector.
This action is integrated into the development of PortCastelló's new 2025-2030 Strategic Plan and responds to the plan's objective of consolidating itself as a recognized port connected with the citizenry. Likewise, the analysis will adhere to the common methodological guidelines approved by Puertos del Estado for the entire General Interest Port System, thus ensuring homogeneity, rigor, and transparency in measuring the results.
The study will address the socioeconomic impact through five work phases that will combine quantitative techniques and fieldwork through surveys of companies in the port community. In a first stage, economic activities will be delimited into direct, indirect, and induced impacts, and subsequently, data on employment, turnover, and investment among agents linked to port activity will be collected.
The work will allow for a precise determination of the total impact on production, Gross Value Added (GVA), job creation, and fiscal return at the local, regional, and national levels of the Port of Castellón. Finally, the analysis will evaluate the pulling effect of the infrastructural and strategic investments planned by the Port Authority.
