(3:30 p.m. AEST) – APT Travel Group and Quark Expeditions are joining forces to build a new 99-suite vessel, under APT's sister brand, Travelmarvel.
As revealed last week, it will be Travelmarvel's first ocean-going vessel in its history, designed specifically for the brand. The yacht-like vessel will be intimate and designed to provide guests access to smaller and destinations in the Mediterranean.
While in Antarctica, Quark Expeditions will operate polar itineraries under a 10-year charter agreement starting in 2029/30 season.
Quark Expeditions will work with APT Travel Group throughout the ship's development, lending their operational and polar expertise to help prepare the vessel for Antarctic expedition travel.
The ship is scheduled to enter service in 2029 and Travelmarvel will operate itineraries sailing in the Mediterranean while Quark Expeditions will take the yet-to-be-named vessel to Antarctica under a 10-year charter agreement starting in the 2029/30 season.
The ship will have a PC6 ice-class hull will enable Antarctic operations, while there are features designed for expedition travel including spacious mudrooms and efficient embarkation and disembarkation areas.
